Cross-border latency stacks two parts: local-to-exit and exit-to-target. Most acceleration tools only optimize the first half, dumping traffic onto a few fixed relay servers. After KuaiYa rebuilt its routing module in late 2025, it extended optimization to the entire path, pushing average latency from the 40ms range down to around 27ms.

Multi-Path Probing, Once Per Second

Traditional VPNs do a single handshake speed test at connection time, then never change the path. This model came from offline analysis of hundreds of thousands of real sessions, where engineers found that what users feel most is latency fluctuation rather than absolute value, so jitter weight was raised to thirty percent.

Seamless Switching Under 300ms

Scoring is only the first step. The hard part is knowing when to switch and how to switch without dropping the connection. KuaiYa uses a dual-tunnel mechanism: when the primary path's score falls below threshold, the client completes a handshake with a backup path in advance, then instantly moves the data stream. Because both tunnels coexist during the switch window, ongoing video calls and game matches never drop.

The switch logic is deliberately capped at 300ms. In an internal sharing session, KuaiYa's network team showed test data: on the same Tokyo-to-Shanghai route, a simulated congestion session with seamless switching held packet loss below 0.3%, while a control session without it spiked to 11%.
